The Certificate in Music Pedagogy is intended for current graduate students and practicing professionals who have earned a bachelor's degree in a relevant music discipline such as composition, conducting, instrumental performance, vocal performance, musicology, music education, music theory, or have equivalent experience. Coursework for the certificate will focus on music teaching strategies, environments, and educational trends that will enhance and broaden students' career preparedness. Students will be able to choose classes in topics such as pedagogy in the area of study or specialization; classroom or studio pedagogy; and current trends in professional practices. Experiences would include opportunities for mentored instruction, engaging with others in the field, and developing best practices in pedagogy and andragogy (adult education).
