M.S. in Career and Technical Education

USA

What will I learn?

The career and technical education program has as its purpose the continued development of the professional and technical knowledge of persons teaching in the discipline. Persons employed in this degree program teach in secondary schools. The program meets the requirements for persons progressing from standard license to professional grade.

Indiana State University offers an online master's in career and technical education (CTE) to provide the continued development of the professional and technical knowledge of individuals working in career technical education, including secondary school CTE faculty, two-year technical school faculty, CTE administrators, and trainers in industry.

  • The CTE Master's Program enables professionals to attain an advanced education by building on their previous training and occupation experience and prepares them to become leaders in Indiana and the world. The program is also preparation for continued graduate study, including doctoral programs.
  • This online program includes 33 to 36 credit hours. Students may transfer up to six credits of previously earned graduate-level coursework into the program if the credit supports the student's area of study.
  • Coursework includes a required core, a research methods course, and an area of specialization that enables each student to tailor the program to meet career and educational goals. Areas of specialization can be selected within the College of Technology as well as other disciplines within the University.
  • The program must be completed within seven years; however, most students complete the program in far less time.
  • All courses are offered on-line. On-campus visits are not required.
  • The online CTE Master's Program is open to eligible students in the U.S. (including the District of Columbia and all U.S. territories). The program also is open to students in Canada (all provinces). The program is closed to students residing in countries other than the U.S. and Canada except for U.S. military and State Department personnel and their family members with APO/FPO addresses.
