The graduate program in Psychology offers two psychology degrees:
Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology
Master of Science in General Psychology
Students applying to either of these psychology graduate programs must have at least 18 semester hours of undergraduate psychology. Prerequisites for both programs include courses in statistics and experimental psychology/research methods.
The Master of Arts degree is designed for students desiring to provide applied mental health services; it prepares students to sit for the state Licensed Professional Counselor exam. The LPC requirements include 60 hours of courses, as required by the Texas Board of Licensed Professional Counselor Examiners.
The Master of Science in General Psychology degree is designed for students desiring to pursue doctoral studies or teaching careers.

Admission to the program requires a baccalaureate degree with adequate course work in the field of interest and a score of at least 284 (verbal plus quantitative) on the GRE Aptitude Test with an undergraduate grade point average of a 3.0 or better, or a GRE of 294 (verbal plus quantitative) with an undergraduate grade point average of 2.6 to 2.99. Students must be accepted by a graduate faculty member who agrees to guide the student's program and serve as the major adviser. The minimum score required is a 6.0 overall band score. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 79 (Internet-based) or 550(Paper-based) is the university minimum requirement for all Graduate students.
