The bachelor of music in music direction for musical theatre is designed for the students who wish to pursue a career as a professional music director for musical theatre. Extensive applied instruction and classes on technique, coaching and musical theatre performance styles, as well as ensemble experience, constitute the core of the curriculum. Students in this program focus on piano and voice in applied studies.
Piano or voice will be the primary instrument for all students in this degree. The instrument that is not the main instrument will be considered the secondary instrument.

Students must completed high school or from a home school program.
Freshman applicants are expected to complete a college preparatory secondary school program with at least 19 units of academic credit. The University strongly recommends the following distribution:

Academic electives: 3 units
Applicants most likely to be admitted will have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and a class rank in the top 50 percent of their high school class, if applicable.
