The MTSU Clinical Psychology master鈥檚 program emphasizes a broadly based scientist-practitioner approach. The course of study offers preparation to pursue doctoral training or employment involving psychological assessment, diagnostic interviewing, and/or the application of behaviour analysis principles. The skills training does not provide preparation to practice psychotherapy or professional counselling at the terminal master鈥檚 level. The curriculum and practice of the program are designed to meet certification requirements for the State of Tennessee鈥檚 Certified Psychological Assistant designation. In addition to the core requirements, the Clinical program offers training in three specializations: general clinical, health/neuropsychology, and applied behaviour analysis. The psychology department has a limited number of graduate assistantships available, and a limited number of faculty have money for research assistants built into their grants.
