What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Theatre is designed to introduce students to the multiple facets of theatre scholarship and theatre practice. It provides a flexible and extensive education in dramatic literature, theatre history, performance practice and theatrical design for students interested in careers in theatre and related entertainment arts, education, communication and television, and other professions.

The various theatre programs in the Department offer creative opportunities for preprofessional training at every academic level. Undergraduate majors may prepare for careers in teaching, acting, design/technology and related fields. The Department sponsors a large number of production activities and practicum experiences including the Bon Stelle Theatre, Underground Theatre, Freedom Players, Motor City Cabaret, and Summer Children's Theatre. Participation in these activities is available to all University students.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have completed a high school or secondary school academic performance.

English proficiency requirements:

TOEFL iBT and IELTS: Minimum scores of 79-80 TOEFL iBT and IELTS 6.5 are required for admission to Wayne State.

MET: WSU also accepts exam scores from the 4 skill Michigan English Test (MET). You must score a minimum of 64 on the MET.

Duolingo: You must score a minimum of 110 on the Duolingo test.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
