German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) was established in 1991 and is a hub for advanced skills training. GMI is renowned for its pre-university preparation studies, customer oriented services and high quality industrial solutions. The institute came into being as the outcome of a joint venture between the governments of Malaysia and Germany and had its first student enrolment in 1992. The institute is governed by a 10-member Board of Directors comprising representatives from both governments, plus public and industrial representatives. GMI is an internationally competitive learning organization delivering high quality technical education. GMI offers a broad-based engineering education, with opportunities for specialization, self-directed learning and development. Diverse training programmes and services are on offer comprising full time diploma programmes, a pre-university programme, skills upgrading technical courses, train-the-trainers programmes and industrial consultancy and services.
