Overview

SEGi University and Colleges embarked on its journey in 1977. Initially known as ‘Systematic College’, SEGi has experienced significant growth by adapting and catering to an increasing demand for tertiary education and professional qualifications in Malaysia. Today, SEGi is one of the largest private higher education providers in Malaysia, serving 16,000 students in five major campuses and offering globally recognised professional qualifications. SEGi also offers a new breakthrough platform known as SEGi Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) that enables working adults to upgrade their qualifications whilst accommodating their work schedule. Despite SEGi’s recent entry into the rankings just two years ago, the college has achieved outstanding results. SEGi University consistently earns top ratings from the local SETARA Rating System by the Ministry of Higher Education, standing shoulder to shoulder with institutions featured in the QS World University Rankings.

SEGi in penang would be less grand compared to the KL branch. However they do boast on the seaview classroom they have in one of the buildings they rent. There’s no proper building dedicated for the college. It is more like Corporate building instead. If compared to other colleges, there is no cafeteria, student’s activities would not be interactive as each school will be for themselves as usual. Financial management would be a joke. For example paying RM111 per month for 4 years just to have a shared internet access which will be too slow to use and personal development program in which we are forced to take. On the other hand their sales pitch is so good we often fell into the trap. One of the student were tricked by the counselor into this college by saying there will be only coursework and no exams but one the very first semester there is already 4 exams to be taken. In SEGi there’s combination from several school, university of sunderland, university of Greenwich and upper iowa university ( ADP ). Student council would usually sit back and not doing anything as opposed to their activities. There is no programs all year long. Even if it does, not every student will inform about this as they are focused on sunderland and Greenwich or should I say the circle of friend they’re in. In terms of studies, I would not be able to complain much since there are mixtures of lecturers in there. However the ones I’m with, only half is what I would call a lecturer. Others would be teaching half heartedly. If I were to given a choice to invite a new student in I would say don’t. not only there is not much facility and students environment, the fact that in adp there’s an increase of RM15 000 in from which is from RM48 000 to RM63 000 in 4 years would be ridiculous as well. show less
