This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria: 

Course: any ACU undergraduate degree
Campus: Blacktown
Study load: full-time in Semester 2
Contribution to community service and/or community engagement
Faced hardships or barriers in accessing higher education 

Selection basis

Students are shortlisted based on their

  • Financial need/hardship
  • Refugee/asylum status

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria: 

Written statement
Contribution to community service and/or community engagement
Hardship/s faced in accessing higher education

Selection process

Applicants will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office and the recipients selected by a panel consisting of Father Anthony Casamento (Vice President ACU), Valentine Mukuria (Campus Dean, Blacktown) and Caroline Allen (Senior Community Engagement Officer).

Application requirements

    Applicants are required to provide the following as part of the application: 

    A written statement of approximately 400 words outlining: 

    your contributions to community service; 
    any hardships or barriers you have faced and the impact they have had on your path to higher education. This may include but is not limited to; excessive family or carer responsibilities, illness, financial hardship, English language difficulty, refugee background, disability, or coming from a rural, regional or remote location.   

    Evidence to support the hardship/s outlined in your written statement. This may include but is not limited to; a Centrelink statement, letter from a medical professional, visa document, Health Care Card, or a statutory declaration. 
    Two written references, these can be from any of the following:  

    • community engagement leader 
    • teacher
    • principal
    • religious leader
