This scholarship was established in 2020 with a gift from Mary Lugton, and is offered to high-achieving students undertaking research in the fields of art conservation, medicine, science, botany, engineering and history. The scholarship is to be held concurrently with a Melbourne Research Scholarship or Research Training Program Scholarship.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a living allowance of AUD $10,000 per year pro rata for up to 2 years for Master by research degree students or up to 3.5 years for Doctoral degree students, and includes limited paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.
The scholarship can be held concurrently with a Research Training Program Scholarship (Stipend) or Melbourne Research Scholarship (Stipend) and together will provide a living allowance of AUD $47,000 per year pro rata (2024 full-time rate)

Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
Have applied for and received an offer for a graduate research degree,
Intend to undertake research in the fields of art conservation, medicine, science, botany, engineering or history, and
Be successful for a Research Training Program Scholarship or Melbourne Research Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to student with the highest scholarship/entry score. When determining the recipient of this scholarship the support already received, in the form of other student awards, by all eligible applicants will be taken into account.
You will be automatically considered for scholarship eligibility when you apply for the relevant course at this institution
