This merit-based award is exclusive to International Students who commenced a full-time undergraduate programme at the Queen鈥檚 University Belfast campus in September 2024 or September 2025. The Queen's Excellence Award is exclusive to international students who commenced a full-time undergraduate programme at the Queen鈥檚 University Belfast campus and enrolled for the first time in September 2024 or September 2025.
No separate application for this scholarship is required. If you achieve a 60% GPA at the end of the academic year and meet the eligibility criteria as set out in these terms & conditions, you will automatically be awarded a Queen鈥檚 Excellence Award following enrolment in the next year of your undergraduate programme. Notifications are normally issued during August and if eligible your award will be credited to your tuition fee account in September.
Students must achieve a GPA of at least 60% to receive the award following enrolment in the next academic year. There will be no rounding up of GPA percentages.
Students who are required to take resits and subsequently achieve the minimum GPA or above will not be eligible for this award.
Students studying a programme which includes a placement will have the award paid at the start of the next academic year at which they will be studying at the Queen鈥檚 University Belfast campus.
The Queen鈥檚 Excellence Award may be awarded more than once in the course of an eligible undergraduate programme. Students who maintain the minimum GPA required, may receive this award in consecutive years.
Where a student achieves the minimum GPA required in the final year of their programme, the Queen鈥檚 Excellence Award will not be applied in the subsequent year, since no further full annual tuition fees are payable.
Students must be classified as international fee-paying students paying the full international tuition fee rate in order to be considered for this discount. Students paying NI, GB or ROI fees are not eligible for the Queen鈥檚 Excellence Award.
The award is deducted from gross tuition fees upon enrolment in the subsequent academic year to which the Excellence Award was achieved. No cash alternative is available.
Students must be self-funded.
The following programmes are excluded from eligibility for the Queen鈥檚 Excellence Award:
Undergraduate: Medicine, Dentistry, Agricultural Technology, Theology, LLB Senior Status
ALL Distance Learning programmes, foundation degree programmes and non-standard fee courses, including part-time programmes.
Students must request authorisation from the International Office before making any changes to their programme of study. Where changes are made without authorisation being granted, the scholarship may be withdrawn and students may be required to repay the scholarship in full.
International scholarships cannot be used in conjunction with any other University scholarship.
The University is unable to consider requests for increased and/or further funding. The amount of scholarship offered is non-negotiable.
The University reserves the right to vary all or any scholarship awards, discounts and regulations at its sole discretion.
