BASET (The Britain-Australia Society Education Trust) provides talented young people with a life changing opportunity to develop new skills, broaden their horizons and realise their potential.  

The BASET Endeavour Heritage Award at West Dean provides funding to deserving young adults from Australia to support their training in the fields of heritage conservation and specialist historical craft skills. The Awards are granted to Australian nationals wishing to study on the Foundation Degree Arts - all pathways, the Graduate Diploma Conservation & Management for Collections, the Graduate Diploma Conservation Studies, MA Conservation Studies – all specialisms.  

After completing their education at West Dean, BASET Award recipients are able to take the skills they have learnt back to Australia to both preserve heritage themselves and train others in their craft. They are usually highly sought after by employers and start careers in their fields immediately.  

Application: Available to Australian nationals wishing to study on the Foundation Degree Arts - all pathways, the Graduate Diploma Conservation & Management for Collections,  the Graduate Diploma Conservation Studies, MA Conservation Studies – all specialisms. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and that the BASET Award will enable them to undertake their studies.  

The Grants Committee will consider the applications and details of the applicants such name, nationality, programme, education and qualifications, employment and experience, personal statement, income and expenditure will be sent to BASET for its approval. Please note, BASET may request an interview with the nominee before confirming the award. BASET’s decision is final.
