Overview

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) officially opened in 1996 and is a specialist university-level provider of world-class learning for performers. The institute is located in Liverpool has as its lead patron none other than Sir Paul McCartney. Around 700 students are currently enrolled at the institute. The school offers diploma, degree and postgraduate courses in the following subjects: Acting, Performing Arts Education, Dance Theatre Practice, Community Music and Contemporary Theatre Practice. LIPA has high-end performance and rehearsal spaces, complete with technical kits that match anything found in the professional world. A majority of those working in the creative and performing arts tend to be self-employed, which is why business and entrepreneurship skills are built into all of LIPA鈥檚 courses, including knowledge on how to develop a career plan and master practical self-management skills.
