Claremont Graduate University (CGU) is a research university located in Claremont, California, and is the oldest graduate-only higher education institution in the United States. The university is a member of The Claremont Colleges, a group of seven world-class institutions modeled after Oxford and Cambridge, and is spread across a 19-acre campus, within walking distance to the popular Claremont Village and just 35 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The International Scholars Program (ISP) is specially designed for non-native English-speaking international students who are ready for graduate study. It will prepare students for the rigors of graduate study through an integrated cluster of classes that will refine their language, research, and participation skills. ISP is not a typical 鈥渓anguage program鈥�; it is designed to help students succeed in graduate-level courses by teaching them about the practices and expectations of American academic and business culture.
Depending upon their level of English proficiency, students will enter at either module 1 or module 2. When they achieve a grade of B or better in all the courses in their module, students will proceed to the next module. Upon successful completion of the International Scholars Program, students will proceed to their graduate program of study and receive a certificate.
