What will I learn?

The Diploma in Postgraduate Preparation – Pre Masters (DipPP) is an eight-month (two-trimester) level 7 Diploma that aims to prepare international students for postgraduate studies at the Waikato Management School, a Triple-Crown accredited business school in New Zealand, the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, the School of Health, or the Faculty of Law. The DipPP provides international students, who either do not have the equivalent of a New Zealand bachelor's degree or do not meet the requirements for direct entry, with an alternative pathway into the following postgraduate qualifications offered by the University of Waikato:Master of Applied Finance (MAppFin)Master of Business and Management (MBM)Master of Digital Business (MDigiBus)Master of Legal Studies (MLS)Master of Management (Supply Chain Management) (MMgmt)Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcct)Master of Information Technology (MInfoTech)Master of Nursing Practice (MNursPrac)Delivered by University of Waikato College, the programme teaches the English language, academic literacies, and personal and professional skills students need to succeed with postgraduate studies at a New Zealand university.Once successfully completed, students will gain entry to one of the above Master degrees giving them the opportunity to study at Waikato Management School, a Triple-Crown accredited business school in New Zealand (ranked in the top 1% worldwide), the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, the School of Health, or the Faculty of Law.

Entry requirements

For international students

  • The equivalent of 2 years' full time successful tertiary study and
  • A qualification equivalent of Level 6 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF)

English Language Requirements

  • an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band) or equivalent.
  • a TOEFL iBT (Internet Based TOEFL) score of 80 with a Writing score of 21, or
  • a TOEFL iBT Home Edition overall score of 80 with a writing score of 21, or
  • a B grade or better at Level 7 in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English, or
  • a PTE Academic overall score of 46 with no band less than 36, or
  • a Language-Cert International ESOL (LRWS) B2 Communicator with 33-37 score per skill, or
  • awarded a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 4), or
  • a Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English (ISE) II with distinction in all four components, or
  • a B2 (formally known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)) with an overall
  • score of 169 and no bands below 162, or
  • a C2 Proficiency (formally known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)) with an overall score of 169 and no bands below 162, or
  • a Michigan English Test (formally known as Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)) minimum score of 54.

All other evidence is considered on a case by case basis.
