The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSEG) offers a special 4+1 BS / MMSE program for highly qualified Undergraduate students from the University of Delaware. This program allows the student to earn a Bachelor’s degree from one of several partnering departments (including Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Civil & Environmental Engineering within the College of Engineering in addition to the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics within the College of Arts and Sciences) and the Master’s of Materials Science and Engineering (MMSE) degree in five years of full-time study at the University of Delaware.
Interested students should apply in the spring and fall semester of their junior year. To be considered for admission to this program, the following minimum criteria applies:
An Undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale at the end of their junior year.
A minimum of two reference letters from professors at the University of Delaware.
