What will I learn?

The goal of the Master of Science in Hospitality Business Management is to build on students’ past experiences and potential interests by providing pathways towards business oriented analytical careers in the hospitality industry.

The department is ranked among the top ten programs in the U.S. The MS-HBM faculty possesses relevant and highly accomplished academic backgrounds in the sub-areas of hospitality business management such as information technology, strategic management, financial management, e-marketing, human resource management and project planning. This innovative program focuses on problem solving and decision making skills in response to the rapid growth of information management needs in the hospitality and tourism sectors of industry. The 30-credits program is ideal for industry professionals and hospitality graduates seeking to augment their operational skills with analytical capabilities. The program includes a 1-week “Industry Immersion Program” of workshops conducted by leading industry professionals on contemporary topics such as revenue management, social media metrics and/or hotel valuations. Successful completion will provide students with a certificate of participation.

A dual degree in the MBA & MS in Hospitality Business Management programs is available to graduate students.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants to a University of Delaware graduate program must possess (or be in the final year of completing) a U.S. equivalent bachelor’s degree. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is offered by the Educational Testing Service in test centers throughout the world. The University requires an official paper-based TOEFL score of at least 550 or at least 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) for an applicant to be considered for admission. The University expects a minimum score of 18 on the Internet-based Speaking Test. IELTS Australia. A band score of 6.5 is expected by the University.
