What will I learn?

These programs focus on grades seven to twelve, with an emphasis on secondary school.

You may choose to major in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics or Physics. In six years, you will complete an Honours degree in your major/first teachable subject, the requirements for a second teachable subject and your Bachelor of Education degree. Opportunities for field experiences will begin in your second year and continue throughout the program. You will take Child and Youth Studies and Education courses beginning in the first year of your program, allowing you to also explore your career interests.

You will choose your second teachable subject area from one of the following: Dramatic Arts, English, French, Geography, History, Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, Science - Biology, Science - Chemistry, Science - General, Science - Physics or Visual Arts.

Successful graduates of each program will be recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for an Ontario Certificate of Qualification and Registration.

This program is also offered by Faculty of Humanities, and Faculty of Mathematics and Science.

Entry requirements

For students from Hong Kong

Applicants must have Secondary school diploma, Grade 12 courses at the number and level specified for your province, A minimum average of 70%.

For international students

Applicants must have

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD);

Minimum six Grade 124U or 4M-level credits, including program specific prerequisites.

A minimum admission average of 70% (many programs require a higher average)

English proficiency requirements

IELTS - overall 6.5, no band below 6.0

TOEFL - overall 88, no band below 21

CAEL - overall 70, no band below 60

PTE - 58

IELP Level 5 - Successful completion of Level 5 of the Brock Intensive English Language program

CAE (C1 Advanced): 176 minimum score

CPE (C2 Proficiency): 176 minimum score

IB: Completion of the International Baccalaureate diploma with English A
