What will I learn?

Do you love looking at artefacts, museums and world heritage sites, or your local folk museum? Are you intrigued by how we lived and designed homes, and the decorative and functional items in them, throughout ages, countries and cultures to survive and flourish? Combine the study of Archaeology with Art History to understand in detail artefacts and art history throughout major ages.The MA Archaeology route focuses on the humanities and social science side of archaeology. Courses in Archaeology will cover subjects such as the origins of modern humans, colonisation of the north, history and theory of archaeology, Scottish archaeology and excavation and research skills.The Art History programme at the University of Aberdeen provides students with an extensive specialised knowledge of the history of painting, sculpture, architecture and the decorative arts in Europe and North America from the Middle Ages to the present day.You could work around the world in galleries, archaeology sites, teaching and communicating knowledge globally.**Ranked 4th in the UK for Archaeology and Anthropology, Guardian 2024Anthropology and Archaeology at Aberdeen is ranked 6th in the UK by the Guardian University Guide 2023.Ranked the leading university in Scotland for the impact of Art History research and second in the UK in the latest UK Research Excellence Framework.**

Entry requirements

For students from Hong Kong

For First Year Entry a minimum of 3 A Levels at BBB or 4 AS at AABB.For Second Year Entry a minimum of an A in the subject selected for Single Honours plus BB, or AB in the subjects selected for Joint Honours plus a further B.GCSE in English or English Language is also required.
