What will I learn?

Are you good with people? Do you have a strong caring nature? Could you meet the challenges of a changing healthcare environment? Nursing is a rewarding career, and this training will make you highly employable. You’ll work with people who have a diverse range of health conditions, including individuals facing challenging life events.

On our MSc Nursing course, you’ll learn how to deliver care to people with acute and complex care needs. At the same time, you’ll discover a range of settings where care takes place, such as at home. Adult nurses also lead and improve care while working with other professionals to get the best outcome for their clients.

You’ll get the opportunity to practice what you’ve learnt on supervised work placements. By the time you graduate, you’ll have developed the knowledge and skills to help plan, coordinate and deliver care in a safe, compassionate and effective way. And you’ll be able to register as a qualified adult nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Your future career

With MSc Nursing on your CV, you’ll have a wide choice of career options. There’s so much breadth and variety, in both roles and settings. There’s also the opportunity for further professional development and specialism.

Once you’ve registered as an adult nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, you can pursue a career in a variety of hospital and community settings.

Our graduates often go on to roles in leadership, management, consultancy, education and research.

Pre-registration nursing programmes are typically three years in duration so, in order to join this two-year MSc, you will be required to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Further details about RPL, including guidance on the development of your three short academic essays, will be sent to you upon successful completion of an interview.
