The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) DNP specialty prepares nurses to provide healthcare to individuals and the family. Students will be prepared to manage a variety of conditions from episodic conditions (coughs, earaches, fevers, etc.) to chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc.) utilizing a holistic approach that evaluates all the current conditions for the patient to formulate a treatment plan. Applicants may enter the program as a post-BSN student or a post-master鈥檚 (in nursing) student. Graduates of the FNP specialty are prepared as advanced practice nurses and are eligible for Nurse Practitioner certification.
The College of Nursing at the University of Arizona offers a variety of programs at the graduate level. Programs are available for students pursuing a first degree in nursing, as well as students interested in advancing in the professional as leaders, advanced practice nurses, and nurse researchers.
